LAND Gallery on the Road

Friday 21st – Sunday 23rd June

Opening Reception: Friday 21st June 6pm-8pm

LAND is trying something new for this Summer – we are going on the road and taking our canopy to Sherman, CT in order to take part in the third Sherman ARTFEST, sponsored by the Sherman Artists Association. This show is both indoors at Charter Hall, (above the Sherman Firehouse) and outdoors at the adjacent Town Green. This will be our second time on the road, but the first in an outdoor environment so we are looking forward to showcasing our work in a new setting. If you have chance please come out and support us as well as all the other fabulous artists who are setting up there for the weekend. We’d love for you to come along and support us

A Thousand Words: Cynthia O’Connor.

The Africa Collection:
Cynthia’s lifelong love of elephants has taken her to Africa twice. Documenting the condition
that this magnificent species faces as the poaching crisis as well and the environmental
issues threaten to cause the species to become extinct has been my motive behind
these photographs. She is determined to educate and inspire others to support the
organizations that are actively saving the victims and the orphans that are left behind

The Abstract Collection:
Multiple exposure photography (produced in the camera, not digitally created) is the
most challenging and genuinely creative pursuit she has undertaken. To capture two or
three images almost simultaneously that have a subtle synchronicity, and then uniting
them into one brings so much joy. ICM photography (Intentional Camera Movement) is the art of moving the camera or lens while capturing the image… They add movement and drama to what otherwise maybe be ‘just another photograph’.

The Classics:
Cynthia says “I always carry my camera with me and have as long as I can remember. I don’t think I can look out my window or walk down the street and not have something reach out to me and I must capture it. This collection are photographs that have stood the test of time. They have been loved and collected for many years and have won numerous awards.
