Eclipse Fever:

I’m writing this as upstate New York prepares itself for the upcoming celestial spectacle, how many of you have made plans for tomorrow?? Whatever is on your agenda I sure hope the weather co-operates…. once its over LAND would love to see your photos and read your thoughts about the experience.

We know that a couple of our resident photographers as well as friends of the Gallery have high hopes for photography on the day and are planning to experience totality to it’s fullest. Meanwhile gallery owner, Jane Haslam plans to stay local with a hike up to a favorite viewpoint, a camp stove for dinner and possibly incorporating some photography if 95% totality proves interesting ….. I guess its a case of watch this space.

#TakeHomeaPieceofPawling

LAND is not only known for its championing of local photography and photographers, but also for representing local nature inspired artisans and. we have a range of wonderful work to view that is handmade in the Hudson, Harlem and Housatonic Valleys. so that you can truly take home or gift a piece of Pawling.

A couple of years ago when LAND was on the lookout for new artisans we came across Karen who lives just over the stateline in CT. Her work fitted perfectly with our overall nature / landscape inspired vibe and she didn’t take much convincing to become LAND Gallery’s jeweler. Karen is a silversmith who incorporates natural elements, such as birch bark and stone into her work.

Karen Ostrom handmade jewelry

Karen’s studio is located on her farm near Goshen, CT where she competes for space with mini donkeys, mini horses and her cats (mini or otherwise) When not creating in CT she can be found at her families beach home on the Maine coastline where many of the stones that feature in her work can be found. Not only is Karen’s work really lovely it’s durable, nicely priced and handmade with love.

Finally

LAND Gallery is more than just photography and jewelry so why not head to downtown Pawling and check us out we are open Thursday – Sunday each week and love to share our work with you. Also we are always on the lookout for new nature inspired work – do you or do you know anyone that would fit into our aesthetic? If so ask them to get in touch, we’d love to find out more
